Introduction to Shotgun

To most students, the shotgun is one of the most intimidating firearm to learn, however its the easiest and most efficient firearm to shoot. This one day class is designed to develop your marksmanship and manipulation skills which will make you proficient with this firearm. The defensive shotgun is a demanding weapon system, but extremely effective in the home, on duty, or competing. Your ability to make ammunition selection, continuity of fire, and malfunction clearances will give you confidence and proficiency when deploying the shotgun as a primary home defense, secondary/breaching tool or sporting competition.

The tactical shotgun’s flexibility and versatility requires a special set of manipulation skills.

  • Firearms safety
  • Fundamentals of shooting tactical shotgun
  • Ammunition ballistics (types of Ammo)
  • Mechanical operation
  • Tactical carry and employment
  • Methodology of shooting the tactical shotgun
  • Use of cover
  • Tactical reloading
  •  Marksmanship and accuracy improvement
  •  Malfunction clearance (stoppage drills)
  • Tactical gun-handling
  • One handed shooting
  • Weak handed shooting
  • Stress fire

Prerequisites: None

Equipment needed:

  • Pump Or Semi Shotgun in good working condition* Sling
  •  150 rounds of Birdshot
  •  30 rounds of Buckshot (00)
  •  15 Slugs
  •  Eye and ear protection

The class will focus on the different types of shotguns and shotgun selection, what accessories to outfit your shotgun with for maximum performance, what kind of ammunition to use and under what circumstances, patterning the shotgun, shotgun safety for home use, storage and much more.
